We are saddened to hear our fellow artist Gary Miles passed away this August.
Painter in oils and acrylic, Gary was still painting into his last weeks in the care home in Drouin.
He was a participant in our very first open studios event in 2008 continuing in every event, opening his studio at Bradley Hall for 18 years including April this year despite the challenges of ill health.
He was always happy to show people his tiny cobwebbed A-frame studio which was filled with the paraphernalia from his long painting career.
R. I.P. Gary Miles
The photo below shows the day artists gathered to decorate the coffin made for Gary’s by his son Beau Miles. Beau gathered materials and painting boards from around Gary’s studio. The coffin is pictured at the studio of Phil Henshall, from left, Adam Price, Wendy Myrteza and Kerrie Warren. Photo: Helen Timbury. All other photos Lauren Murphy.
